Planning dungeon runs for the duo
A good dungeon evening can bring experience, quest progress and a few worthwhile equipment comparisons for both players. The priest reward guide and hunter reward guide shortlist useful drops and quest choices without listing every item.
The normal plan is a group run with a dedicated tank. These guides do not establish that our duo can clear each dungeon alone.
Decide what makes the run worthwhile
Look for a useful weapon, an important quest reward, several promising slots or a dungeon you want to experience. A small armour improvement alone may not justify repeated runs, particularly when a nearby quest or craft fills the same gap.
Keep each player's goal separate. A healing piece may be useful for the priest's dungeon set even if it does not replace the usual questing gear. The hunter's ranged weapon remains the weapon priority for BM; the Survival draft needs a separate melee comparison.
Use Tonight's adventure chooser to compare surrounding quest areas, and the priest or hunter profession timeline before spending runs chasing a modest craftable improvement.
Before leaving town
- Read the dungeon's level range, wing and group information. A suggested group range is not an entry requirement or a promise of a comfortable run at its lowest level.
- Check quest pickups and prerequisites in the guide, then confirm them in your quest log. The recorded chains are not necessarily complete walkthroughs.
- Preview rewards where possible. Each player chooses their own quest reward; alternatives on the same quest are not a bundle you receive together.
- Agree on roles. The priest can use Disc to heal and add damage when pressure and mana permit, or Holy for dedicated healing. The hunter disables Growl when the group tank holds the enemies.
- Check current gear, profession alternatives and consumables before deciding whether a repeat run is worthwhile.
Priest: weapons and a useful healing set
Early wands deserve attention even without Shadow talents. In Deadmines, compare Cookie's Stirring Rod and the reported Sable Wand quest choice with your enchanting wand. Blackfathom's reported Gravestone Scepter reward is another comparison. Confirm the quest choices and compare actual wand damage rather than relying on the item colour or name.
Spell Power and Intellect can support the Disc damage/healing mix. Healing-focused and Spirit pieces can be worth retaining for dungeon healing instead of judging every reward only against your questing set. Compare cloth rewards with Tailoring before chasing a marginal replacement.
Some later rewards, such as Resurgence Rod, have readable item information while their quest source remains a Classic reference. Knowing what the item does is different from knowing where we can obtain it in Forever.
Hunter: ranged upgrades and equipment gates
The observed Concealed Hand Crossbow from Bazil Thredd in the Stockades is an early ranged-weapon candidate worth inspecting. Tunic of Westfall and Gnomeregan's Triprunner Dungarees are reported quest comparisons for Agility-focused gear; confirm the current quest choices before planning around them.
For BM, melee weapons are primarily equipment-stat comparisons. Do not let an attractive melee damage number displace the ranged weapon you actually use. For Survival, that advice changes: evaluate the melee setup against its own build rather than reuse the BM shortlist unchanged.
Mail requires the hunter's level-40 training gate, even if a particular item's equip requirement is lower. Owner stats also do not tell us exactly how much the pet inherits.
Read uncertainty as a planning cue
| What the guide knows | What to do with it |
|---|---|
| A drop has been observed | A stronger reason to inspect that source; still no promised drop or known drop rate |
| A source is a Classic reference | Check it in Forever before travelling or repeating runs solely for that reward |
| An item is a clue for a dungeon | Keep it on the watch list rather than treat it as a confirmed farming target |
| A quest title is known, but rewards are missing | Inspect the reward preview; missing information does not mean there is no useful reward |
Item details, drop sources and quest rewards can have different certainty. The guide keeps those distinctions on the relevant cards. Quest reward links remain unverified in Forever even when a quest title or item tooltip is known.
Where the plan needs more information
New dungeons have uneven coverage. Excavation Site: Wetlands and City of Dalaran have observed drops but missing new quest reward lists. The Hall of Thanes and Ruins of Lordaeron largely have item clues; Lordaeron's recorded quest givers also leave Alliance access uncertain.
Later dungeons such as Uldaman, Zul'Farrak, Blackrock Depths and Dire Maul have too little confirmed reward coverage for a complete route. Maraudon has useful quest references, but its boss rewards are sparsely documented. These gaps do not mean those dungeons are unrewarding.
Check the particular wing and group listing for Scarlet Monastery, Blackrock Spire, Gnomeregan and Sunken Temple. Sunken Temple's level-60 belt clues should not be treated as targets for an earlier visit. Priest class-quest rewards there still need checking.
Above level 30, the route remains launch planning. Revisit a recommendation when a quest shows its actual choices, a boss drops a new item, a recipe offers a better alternative or a game update changes the details. The most useful observations include the item name, where it came from and the quest's reward choices.
